Alessio Leonardi was born on the 13th July 1965: that was in the past century. In Firenze (Florenz). Mother: Maria Maddalena Civallero. Father: Samuele Leonardi. Alessio is an italian Type and Graphic Designer who lives since 1990 in Berlin, Germany, where he runs together with his wife Imme Leonardi the Studio Lion&Bee. Many of his typefaces went published by Linotype and FontShop, before he started BuyMyFonts.com – his own Type Foundry and online shop in 2002. Alessio writes articles for type and design magazines worldwide and gives lectures at international conferences. After a book on the history of writing, “From the Cow to the Typewriter: the (true) History of Writing”, he has recently realized “A Line of Type: 120 Years Typographical History”. He is visiting professor for Corporate and Information Design at the University of Art and Design in Halle.
